About Leon

Dr. Aaron Leon Kenin is a Licensed Acupuncturist with a Doctoral degree in Acupuncture and Orietal Medicine from the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, a Master of Science in Oriental Medicine from Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine College in Berkeley. He holds a BA from Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School of International and Public Affairs with a second major in Latin American Studies and is fully bilingual in Spanish and English.  He is a devoted father raising 5 children. In his training, Leon spent a year of clinical rotations as an acupuncturist at UC Berkeley’s Tang Center’s sports medicine facility working with Cal’s elite athletes to treat injuries, speed recovery, and enhance performance. Now Leon focuses on sports and orthopedic acupuncture, women’s health and fertility, and muscular pain such as sciatica-like disorders, back pain, neck, shoulder, arm and hand pain. He also has wide experience treating other health concerns such ranging from allergies to hypothyroidism. He uses a personalized approach that combines traditional Chinese acupuncture and herbology with the specialized techniques of trigger-point acupuncture, electro-acupuncture, cupping, moxibustion, gua sha, and tui na. Leon assists his clients with immediate concerns such as easing pain and discomfort, and with longer-term objectives to help people establish balanced health and reach greater potential in their lives.

 

Martial Arts:
Leon grew up in Berkeley where he began learning judo and kung fu at age eight with Dr. Alex Feng. A lifetime member of the United States Judo Association, a member of the United States Judo Federation, he has competed in California at the youth level, at the national collegiate level as a member of the Princeton Judo Team, and internationally at the adult level.  Leon has been teaching Judo since the mid 1980s. He founded and ran a Judo school in Jerusalem, Israel as well as establishing a youth Judo program at the Downtown Berkeley YMCA. Leon is also a third degree black belt in Judo and a co-founder and  instructor at 510Judo (previously Oakland Judo).
